Itinerary

Your Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation 4WD Bloomfield Track full-day tour from Cairns begins with being met by your friendly accredited guide at your accommodation. After introductions, we drive north along the magnificent scenic coastal route along the Captain Cook Highway learning about the history of the area and admiring spectacular views of the coastline and the Azure waters of the Coral Sea.

Stop 1: Daintree Rainforest River Cruise & Morning Tea - our first stop is at the Majestic Daintree River for morning tea (tea, coffee & biscuits) before enjoying an informative guided River Cruise on the Daintree River. Relax and enjoy the splendour only the Daintree Rainforest can offer as you learn of Estuarine Crocodiles, mangrove forests and endemic wildlife, this is nature at its best!

Stop 2: Alexandra Range Lookout - we make our way up over the Alexandra Range and pause for a panoramic view of World Heritage, Wet Tropics, and Tropical Rainforest merging with the azure colours of the Coral Sea.

Stop 3: Guided Boardwalk Daintree Rainforest Tour - experience the rainforest intimately on one of our guided elevated National Park Boardwalks. Your experienced guide will take you on a wonderful journey through this ancient rainforest whilst giving you an interpretation of flora and fauna and you will have ample time for photographs and questions as we search for the elusive, rare and totally unique Southern Cassowary and other wildlife species within this particular habitat.

Stop 4: Lunch - Enjoy lunch at a local cafe in the Daintree Rainforest region. View lunch menu here.

Stop 5: 4WD Bloomfield Track to Emmagen Creek Wildlife Spotting & Freshwater Swim - we will take you beyond the famous Daintree Tea Plantation, past spectacular mountains and through spectacular World Heritage Rainforest as we pass Cape Tribulation and continue along the 4WD Bloomfield Track through to pristine Emmagen Creek. Billy Tea Safaris is the only tour operator that goes to this secret Jewel in the Rainforest, and now it is time for a refreshing rainforest stream swim, in crystal clear fresh waters and without the crowds of people.

Stop 6: Cape Tribulation Beach - we then make our way to Cape Tribulation Beach after most of the crowds are gone, stroll along the beach and boardwalk to the photographers' platform overlooking the mountains and coast where the 'Rainforest meets the Reef.'

Stop 7: Daintree Ice-Cream Company - we stop an exotic homemade ice-cream at the Daintree Ice-cream Company on the way home. (ice-cream at own expense).

Itineraries are also subject to change, modification and some destinations may not be reached at the discretion of the Billy Tea Safaris guide on the day due to weather conditions, road conditions, possible road closures, and the safety of all passengers.

Our vehicles take 16 to 20 passengers only. We keep our numbers small to create a more personalised experience. Note that during busy periods we often have more than one vehicle touring in the Daintree, so you may see a couple of busses out and about!

Note: numbers have been reduced due to COVID-19. Passengers will be spread out to adhere to current COVID restrictions.

Can we do a private charter?
Yes! Private charters are available with personalised itineraries and price on application, enquire now!

What do I need to take?
Hat, sunscreen, camera with extra batteries & memory cards, water bottle, towel and swimming costume (if you plan to swim), insect repellent, extra cash for cold drinks, souvenirs or an ice-cream, raincoat in our rainy season or umbrella.

What do I wear?
As we are in a tropical environment, please wear comfortable clothes and flat shoes or sandals. In our winter months (July to August) you may wish to take a light coat/jacket. No thongs (flip flops) or high heels as there is uneven ground and you will be in the rainforest.

Is the tour wheelchair / disabled friendly?

Due to the remoteness, the ruggedness of the area, steps and uneven ground on the National Park Boardwalks and into Emmagen Creek, passengers must be able to take walking steps by themselves or with the aid of their own carer. Wheelchairs must be small compact collapsible chairs as space is limited. This must be checked at the time of reservation and confirmed at least 48 hours prior to the tour. Billy Tea Staff are unable to assist with any lifting or assistance due to insurance liability and not being the authorised carer.

What level of fitness is required?

The Daintree Rainforest Tour requires a beginners level of fitness. The boardwalk tour through the rainforest with your guide is at a very leisurely pace and is approximately a 1km round trip. If you prefer to wait for the group to return, there is a seating area at the entrance of this boardwalk for you to wait for the group to return.

Is Wifi available?
No, due to the remoteness of the area we can not provide WiFi in our vehicles. This may also mean limited mobile reception throughout the day as well.

Reviews

What our customers say:

"Loved this! A very full day with lots of variety in nature. Steven our guide was excellent and we learned so much about Australian history, plants and the land throughout the day. Excellently organised, professional guides. I would certainly recommend this as a great way to see and learn about the area."
- Kendra R, via TripAdvisor

"I highly recommend this trip. Gavin, our tour guide, was excellent in telling us about the culture, the history of the area and of course the nature we passed through. The mix of driving, short walks, stops, bbq, ice cream and fruits, a quick swim and boat trip gave a good variety to the day. We really had a great and interesting day!"
- Gabben, via TripAdvisor

"I went on the one day Daintree trip with Hirani as a guide. We had a party of 4 adults one child (with special needs). We (adults) have all done a significant amount of international travel, really quite a lot. We all just wanted to pay tribute to Hirani - she is truly excellent. Great attitude, happy, friendly and an immense amount of knowledge about the area, wildlife, history, indigenous culture etc. Hirani is as good a guide as any of us have seen, and we have done hundreds of tours all around the world. With Hirani working for you, people will keep coming back and word of mouth will just spread. An excellent job Hirani, and thank you to Billy Tea Tours."
- Regards Jonathan Ryan , Hanh Tran, Brett and Kate Bonser, Darcy Ryan

"The journey and 4x4 were extremely comfortable and the day was well-paced. Lunch was excellent and the Billy Tea by the creek particularly stood out as an experience. Would definitely recommend!"
