From Cairns we climb to 500 metres above sea-level and drive out of the rainforest and on to the multi-cultural village of Mareeba and award-winning Coffee Works for an introduction to Australia’s largest coffee growing region.
Travel on the through banana plantations, sugar cane, and through the townships of Tolga and Atherton on route to Herberton and its Historic Village, voted on Trip Advisor as one of the top 10 museums in Australia. Enjoy a selection of local tropical fruit and cheese platter.Then its onto our swim stop at the iconic Millaa Millaa falls followed by lunch at the Smokehouse Café along Queensland’s highest scenic drive with epic views of the Tablelands and the Great Dividing Range.
Walk into the forest to view one of Australia’s oldest trees, The Curtain Fig Tree; standing at 500 years old.
Finish the day at The Humpy Store to purchase local produce , nuts ,fruit etc.

What time does the tour start and end?
Pickups from the Southside Accommodation 6.15 am, Cairns CBD is 6.30am, Northern Beaches 6.10 am, Port Douglas are at 6.00am. Returning time Port Douglas at approx 7.00 pm, Northern Beaches 6.00pm, Cairns City 6.30pm. Please note all times are approximate. If you run late and not there for your pickup time allocated you may miss your tour for the day and therefore will be charged 100% cancellation fail to load fee.
How many people will be in the vehicle?
Our vehicles take 16/20 passengers only. Small personalised numbers.Note that during busy periods we often have more than one vehicle touring in all areas ..We do not carry clients suitcases, hand bag or small back pack are okay. No Baby strollers can be carried on our vehicles
Can we do a private charter?
Private charters are available with personalised itineraries and price on application.
What do I need to take?
Please take Hat, Sunscreen, Camera, extra batteries & memory cards Water bottle, Towel, Swimming Costume, insect repellent, extra cash for cold drinks, souvenirs or an ice-cream, raincoat in our rainny season or umbrella.
What do I wear?
Comfortable clothes as you are in the tropics, our winter you may wish to take a light coat. Flat comfortable shoes or sandals. Preferable no thongs, shoes must have grip and ladies no high heels .
What does Billy Tea provide?
We provide morning tea at Coffee Works, Custom built 4WD vehicles, experienced accredited guides, delicious Lunch, Tropical Exotic Fruits and Billy Tea . Itineraries may be changed or run in reverse at the discretion of Billy Tea Safaris, some parts of the tour may not be carried out as per brochure at certain times of year due to weather and road conditions, decision made on the day by our guides and it is final. We may not get to some of our tour destinations depending on weather.
What if I have dietary requirements?
All dietary requirements must be notified at time of reservation, or 48 hours notice we can cater for vegetarians and most other requirements within reason and providing they are of a medical nature .
Is the tour wheelchair / disabled friendly?
We can only take passengers that are able to get themselves up the steps in the vehicle or have a carer to help them. They must be able to take walking steps by themselves or with the aid of their own carer. Their wheelchairs must be small compact collapsible chairs as space is limited and can only go in our storage comparments, not inside the vehicles and this must be checked at time of reservation. This also must be advised 48 hours prior to the tour. The vehicles aren’t designed for disabled passengers, due to the remoteness and ruggedness of the areas visited. Billy Tea Staff are unable to assist with any lifting or assistance due to insurance liability and not authorised carer.
Is Wifi available ?
We dont supply wifi connection in our coaches and mobile reception is quite difficult at times during the day due to the remoteness of the area we travel in .
