What time does the tour start and end?
Please note all times are approximate. Please ensure you are on time for your pick up! If you are not on time, you may miss your pick up, which will incur 100% cancellation fee.
How many people will be in the vehicle?
Our vehicles take up to 20 passengers. We keep our numbers small to create a more personalised experience. Note that during busy periods we often have more than one vehicle touring in the Daintree, so you may see a couple of busses out and about.
Can we do a private charter?
Yes! Private charters are available with personalised itineraries, and the price is on application, enquire now.
What do I need to take?
Hat, sunscreen, camera/phone, water bottle, towel and swimming costume (if you plan to swim), insect repellent, extra cash/credit card for additional drinks, raincoat or umbrella in our rainy season (December - March).
What do I wear?
As we are in a tropical environment, please wear comfortable clothes and flat shoes or sandals. In our winter months (July to August) you may wish to take a light coat/jacket. No thongs (flip flops) or high heels, as there is uneven ground and you will be in the rainforest.
What does Billy Tea provide?
What if I have dietary requirements?
All dietary requirements must be notified at the time of reservation, or at least 48 hours' notice before travel. We cater for most requirements.
Is this a full-day Daintree Rainforest tour?
Yes. This is a full-day guided tour from Cairns and Port Douglas, allowing you to experience the highlights of the Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation in a single day.
Is this the best Daintree tour from Cairns and Port Douglas?
This tour is ideal for travellers wanting to experience the highlights of the Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation in a single day. With a Daintree River cruise, guided rainforest walks, swimming opportunities and Cape Tribulation Beach, it offers a comprehensive introduction to the region. We have been locally owned and operated for over 40 years and are the pioneers of Daintree Rainforest Tours in Cairns!
How long does it take to get to Cape Tribulation from Cairns?
Cape Tribulation is located approximately 140 kilometres north of Cairns. Travelling on a guided tour allows you to relax and enjoy the scenery while learning about the region from your local guide.
Can you visit the Daintree Rainforest in one day?
Absolutely. A guided Daintree Rainforest day tour is one of the best ways to experience the region, with visits to key attractions including the Daintree River, Cape Tribulation, rainforest boardwalks and scenic lookouts.
Is the Daintree Rainforest worth visiting?
The Daintree Rainforest is the world's oldest tropical rainforest in the world and one of Australia's most significant natural attractions. It is renowned for its biodiversity, ancient plant species and the unique location where the rainforest meets the Great Barrier Reef.
What wildlife can I see in the Daintree Rainforest?
Wildlife sightings vary daily, but guests commonly spot estuarine crocodiles, colourful birds, butterflies, frogs, reptiles and, if you're lucky, the elusive Southern Cassowary.
Is this tour suitable for children?
Yes. This tour is suitable for families and children from 4 to 16 years of age who enjoy nature, wildlife and outdoor experiences. The day includes a variety of stops, short walks and opportunities to swim and explore. We do not cater for children 0-3 years. If you would like to book a tour with your infant, we have private charters available upon request.
Do we need to bring a child seat for my infant?
No, under Queensland Law, children are not required to use child restraints in our vehicles. All our vehicles are fitted with seatbelts, and, depending on age, children can either have their own seat or sit on a parent's or caregiver’s lap.
Do I need to bring swimmers?
We recommend bringing swimmers and a towel as there may be an opportunity to enjoy a refreshing swim in a rainforest creek during the day (conditions permitting).
Is the tour wheelchair / disabled-friendly?
Due to the remoteness, the ruggedness of the area, steps and uneven ground on the National Park Boardwalks and into Emmagen Creek, passengers must be able to take walking steps by themselves or with the aid of their own carer. Wheelchairs must be small, compact, collapsible chairs, as space is limited. This must be checked at the time of reservation and confirmed at least 48 hours prior to the tour. Billy Tea Staff are unable to assist with any lifting or assistance due to insurance liability and not being the authorised carer.
What level of fitness is required?
The Daintree Rainforest Tour requires a beginner's level of fitness. The boardwalk tour through the rainforest with your guide is at a very leisurely pace and is approximately a 1km round trip. If you prefer to wait for the group to return, there is a seating area at the entrance of this boardwalk for you to wait for the group to return.
Is Wifi available?
No, due to the remoteness of the area, we can not provide WiFi in our vehicles. This may also mean limited mobile reception throughout the day as well.
What our customers say:
"Loved this! A very full day with lots of variety in nature. Steven our guide was excellent and we learned so much about Australian history, plants and the land throughout the day. Excellently organised, professional guides. I would certainly recommend this as a great way to see and learn about the area."

"I highly recommend this trip. Gavin, our tour guide, was excellent in telling us about the culture, the history of the area and of course the nature we passed through. The mix of driving, short walks, stops, bbq, ice cream and fruits, a quick swim and boat trip gave a good variety to the day. We really had a great and interesting day!"
- Gabben, via TripAdvisor
"I went on the one day Daintree trip with Hirani as a guide. We had a party of 4 adults one child (with special needs). We (adults) have all done a significant amount of international travel, really quite a lot. We all just wanted to pay tribute to Hirani - she is truly excellent. Great attitude, happy, friendly and an immense amount of knowledge about the area, wildlife, history, indigenous culture etc. Hirani is as good a guide as any of us have seen, and we have done hundreds of tours all around the world. With Hirani working for you, people will keep coming back and word of mouth will just spread. An excellent job Hirani, and thank you to Billy Tea Tours."

"The journey and 4x4 were extremely comfortable and the day was well-paced. Lunch was excellent and the Billy Tea by the creek particularly stood out as an experience. Would definitely recommend!"
