Itinerary

Day 1 (MT,L,AT)

This morning begins the Cape Tribulation Tour. You will be collected from your accommodation by  Billy Tea Safari’s, approximately 7.00am Cairns Area, 7.20am Northern Beaches and 8.20am for Port Douglas.

Travel north along the scenic Captain Cook Highway viewing spectacular views of the coast line and Coral Sea, through lush farmland contrasts with seascape as we approach the majestic Daintree River. A short morning tea break, then its 'all aboard' for an informative one hour river cruise.

Relax and enjoy the splendour only this Daintree River Cruise, where you will learn of this two unique Eco Systems meet the lowland Mangrove Forests with World Heritage Rainforest. Look for  Estuarine Crocodiles, and wildlife this is nature at its best!

You will then ascend the Alexandra Range and stop for spectacular panoramic view of World Heritage Tropical Rainforest merging with the azure colours of the Coral Sea, great photographic opportunities. Experience the rainforest intimately on our elevated National Park Boardwalk, with your accredited guide whilst learning accurate interpretations of flora and fauna and amazing history of this ancient rainforest. You will be given with ample time for photographs and questions as we search for the elusive, rare and totally unique Southern Cassowary and other wildlife species within this particular habitat.

Enjoy a delicious gourmet barbecue lunch with freshly prepared salads (special medical diets catered for upon request) is served in a wonderful rainforest restaurant, while you have the opportunity to hand feed a kangaroo, and enjoy a cold drink from the bar at Lync Haven animal refuge. 

Then it is time to  take you beyond Cape Tribulation along the 4WD Bloomfield Track to pristine Emmagen Creek, Billy Tea Safari is the only operator who goes to this secret location, and you have time to enjoy a refreshing rainforest stream swim, in the heart of World Heritage Rainforest. Watch fish and turtles in the creek, butterflies and exotic birds in the trees and indulge in a feast of exotic tropical fruit,  and a cup of traditional Billy Tea and enjoy Australian Traditional damper, all of which enhance the tranquil surroundings. At Cape Tribulation Beach there is a time to enjoy the spectacular views or  or stroll along the beach and boardwalk to the photographers' platform overlooking the mountains and coast where the 'Rainforest meets the Reef'. You will be taken to your overnight accommodation. (Either Deluxe or Moderate Accommodation)

Day 2 (Deluxe Option B, MT & L)   (Moderate option L) Pickup at 10am approx

A leisurely breakfast this morning for those staying in the deluxe option included, for (moderate operation breakfast own expense), before being collected from your accommodation by Adventure North industry partner where your journey will continue to Cooktown. The Last Frontier of North Queensland. The Cooktown Tour takes you on the 4WD only Bloomfield Track and allows you to travel through the heart of this World Heritage Listed area providing incredible glimpses of Australia that are hard to imagine. Travel over rugged mountain ranges and river crossings. Look for crocodiles and other Australian wildlife and fauna. We stop for lunch at the Lions Den Hotel, one of North Queensland’s oldest running bush pubs (est. 1875). Visit the mysterious Black Mountains steeped in Aboriginal legend before arriving mid- afternoon in Cooktown. Enjoy 360 degree panoramic views of Cooktown and the Endeavour River from Grassy Hill-another photo opportunity. Transfer to your overnight accommodation, twin room private facilities Deluxe Option is Sovereign Hotel 4 Star and Moderate Option is the Sea View Motel 3 star. Afternoon and evening at your leisure.

 

Day 3 (All Meals own Expense)

Today is a free day to explore Cooktown, you now have free time to visit the World Class James Cook Museum or stroll along the shores of the Endeavour River, visit Natures Power House Museum, Cooktown Cemetery which is a wealth of history from the early explorer days and the town sights. The main street has a charm and historical atmosphere, which still prevails. You can experience the unspoilt beauty of the area, which remains much the same as when Captain Cook knew it in 1770.

This afternoon approximately 4.00pm you will be collected from your accommodation and depart Cooktown via the inland road, Mulligan Highway, the Outback of Far North Queensland as we follow the backbone of Australia, the Great Dividing Range. Travel through cattle and goldfield country. Evening meal break, (optional own expense).

Your tour comes to close as you are transferred to your accommodation approximately  8.30pm Port Douglas and Cairns approximately 9.30pm.

Things to see and do whilst you have free time in Cooktown

Cooktown is one of Australia's most historically significant townships, this is where Captain James Cook spent weeks repairing his vessel, the "HM Bark Endeavour".  Some of the most extraordinary discoveries and interactions with local Aboriginal people occurred here back in 1770, but this history is just beginning. Cooktown has something for everyone from the exquisite Botanical Gardens, beautiful Heritage listed buildings, Museums with an amazing collection of history, beaches, waterfalls, beautiful bushwalking trails, bird watching and also Cooktown is renowned for its fishing.

What to Bring and Wear

Please bring Hat, Sunscreen, water bottle, small soft overnight bag, maximum 10kg (No Suitcases) 

Please be aware that travelling through our wet season months which are December to end of March the Bloomfield Track may close due to flooding and the tour can't get through to Cooktown.  So the option can be still do the Daintree, Cape Tribulation Tour overnight in Cape Tribulation and back with Billy Tea Safaris to Cairns on day two, you will then get a part refund of the tour if you wish to still travel.

Moderate 3 Star Accommodation - Cape Tribulation accommodation
is Cape Tribulation Beach House Backpackers please be mindful this
property is close to the beach, but the accommodation is a far walk
from reception to the rooms in the rainforest. You will have to be able to carry your own
luggage and ages vary from the young to middle age. It can be noisy. Sea View Motel Cooktown
is a 3.5 star property.
